Investigating the Migration Policy Crisis in Greece

Joint BIRN – Heinrich Böll Stiftung Thessaloniki panel discussion

On the occasion of this year’s summer school, the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network is co-organising with the Thessaloniki office of the Heinrich Böll Foundation the joint panel discussion Investigating the Migration Policy Crisis in Greece

The panel will bring together journalists experienced in reporting on the migration policy crisis in the country, as well as Heinrich Böll Stiftung’s Head of the Migration Policy Europe Programme to discuss the complex political context in which journalists focused on migration must operate and the challenges they face on a daily basis ranging from breaches of privacy to safety risks to themselves and their – often vulnerable – sources and various forms of criminalisation.

This panel seeks to provide space for learning and reflection and to open the floor for discussion to journalists interested in working in the field of migration.
