Summer School of Investigative Reporting 2026 Sessions

Turning a raw topic to a submission-ready pitch

The session will guide participant through the steps of developing a story idea into their article proposal. We will discuss the idea’s sources and newsworthiness, how to move from a broad topic to provable angle, what are the key elements every pitch needs and why all this matters.

The session will end with insight into the editorial hierarchy – reporter, editor, and fact-checker and clarifying who has the final say over content versus the final say over accuracy.
